POST 13: UNIQUE DESTINATION

INGREDIENTS FOR A UNIQUE DESTINATION

The first ingredient was selecting land with best location and natural beauty.  Second and most important ingredient is defining the “Concept”.

Our option began with “virgin land” where no man had placed one stone over another, and a white sheet of paper to trace a plan.

Real estate and commercial products  define the economics and possible success of the plan. Services and attractions will define the market and eventually the type of community we promoted.

Before building the first square meter to be sold,   based on a Master Plan, a housing complex for workers was built as part of a future “Poblado” with independent services.

We broke ground with “Centro Educativo Puerto Aventuras”.       A mixed Community with locals and foreigners, required a bilingual school.   The best site was assigned so students could arrive in their bicycles to a school with no walls.

A new community usually covers basic services first and later considers art and culture.      P.A. provided both from the beginning with a “Cultural Center” and “House of Worship” to house a wide variety of events.   A cultural addition was our “Museum of Underwater Archaeology” showing a collection of artifacts from 17th century galleons sunk on this coast offering a different view of our history. Access to public is free.

For market day, a typical Mexican “Kiosko” was imported and placed next to the commercial area around the Marina.

The students solicited and designed a “Skate Park” as gathering place.

¨Green¨ must prevail as first plane and dominate around   our constructions.    Multiple “Nurseries”   are kept to reforest Puerto Aventuras as seen today.

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WAKE UP WITH “HOW TO MAKE A DOLLAR” IN THEIR MINDS.    THERE ARE OTHERS WHO WAKE UP THINKING ON DOING SOMETHING GOOD ….AND THE DOLLAR WILL FOLLOW.
